Lion attacks woman and children in Pakistani street

A pet lion that managed to escape attacked a woman and two children on a busy street in Pakistan's Lahore.

In what seems like something that could only happen in a movie, a lion attacked a woman and two children on a busy street in Pakistan's Lahore.
A video that was released by police shows how a lion, which was being kept as a pet, escaped its home and attacked a woman and two children who were walking on a busy street.
In the video, we see the lion jump over a wall and head straight for the woman wearing red, who was walking by with her shopping. A man is seen running behind the lion, trying to get it back, stopping the attack on the woman, who gets up and runs in the opposite direction.
"A police report quoted the father as saying the lion then turned to his five-year-old and seven-year-old children, and clawed their arms and faces. All three were taken to the hospital but were not in a critical condition," reports East Coast Radio news.
Reports revealed that the owners were three men who have since been arrested. The children's father said the men seemed amused when they saw the lion attack.
In Punjab, Pakistan, keeping exotic animals, such as big cats, as pets has long been considered a sign of privilege and power. The law requires pet owners to have licenses for keeping such pets, and they are not allowed to be kept in residential areas.
The lion was removed from the men's care and placed in a wildlife park.
