This party trick ended in flames

What's a birthday celebration without a birthday cake, a few candles and colourful party streamers?
In this family's case it's a recipe for disaster. A video shared on social media shows just how quickly things can go south if you're not careful.
In the video, a family is seen celebrating a relative's birthday with all the bells and whistles for a perfect party.
While the candles are still lit, the family makes the disastrous decision to throw streamers at the birthday boy.
One streamer lands on the flames and just like that, the celebration quickly turns into panic.
The streamers caught alight and a fire began spreading across the table and on the floor, leaving everyone in a frenzy. Some people tried to blow the fire out, but this only made it worse. Meanwhile others tried their best to extinguish the flames by stepping on it with their shoes.

While some people found it funny, other's questioned why they thought this was a good idea.

- "I’m trying to figure out what made them think that was a good idea."
- "Did common sense leave the chat?"
- "Honestly, I wouldn't even celebrate another birthday."
- "Good thing they are a 'shoe in the house' kind of family. My family would have burned up."
We saw something similar with a local family trying to celebrate their little girl's birthday in bed. The mom leaned in while the birthday candle was lit, and her hair caught alight.
