We often underestimate the benefits of laughter and approaching serious issues from a humorous perspective

Finding humour in tough situations in something South Africans are especially good at.

One of the biggest pitfalls motorists face at the moment is potholes. The potholes are everywhere, and quick fixes just aren't cutting it.

Besides the damage they cause to our cars, there's also the safety factor. Some of these potholes can cause major accidents and of course criminals use potholes to their advantage to target motorists.

Local content creator, Tyrone Buys, decided to put a humorous spin on the topic. He brought a lighthearted side to potholes by poking fun at the way many potholes are being repaired.

In his first video, he joked about using cake mix to fill a pothole in his neighbourhood, saying this was just a temporary fix and teased at how many repaired potholes open up after a few days.

In another video, Tyrone brought the laughs with several other South Africans when he used a popular cereal brand to fix a pothole on a dirt road.

Many South Africans joined in as they laughed at his video, with many saying that certain food products might prove better than the building materials used to fix the roads.

Of course, it was all done in the name of fun. As much as they all make a valid point, several factors must be considered when addressing the pothole repairs. It's not just a matter of the products used but also the environment, the weather, the weight of the vehicles, etc.
