Despite what some might believe, Scotch tape doesn't fix everything.

If your first reaction is “Well, duh”, you’ll probably find this video pretty entertaining. The truth is, not everyone thinks clearly in a stressful situation. Some call a friend, some turn to Google (which can go either way), and others rely on a very unique kind of logic.

In a video we spotted on Instagram, two people are seen frantically tearing off strips of Scotch tape in an attempt to patch a punctured tyre.

Many poked fun at the mindset of the people in the video and how this is how today's generation approaches problems.

But if you're a driver and genuinely unsure what to do in the event of a puncture, don't worry, we've got you covered. It’s something every learner driver is meant to know, but it’s always worth a refresher.

When you get a flat tyre while driving, the first thing to do is stay calm. Pull over safely, switch on your hazard lights, and place your reflective triangle a safe distance behind your car to alert other motorists.

If your insurance includes roadside assistance, call the emergency number and wait in a safe place.

For those handling it themselves, inspect the tyre for visible damage like nails or glass. If you can’t see the puncture, pouring water over the tyre may help reveal the source by forming bubbles.

Watch the YouTube video below for a step-by-step guide on how to change a car tyre.
