Taxi gets a taste of its own medicine in Midrand

It is a never-ending challenge that South African motorists have grown used to: the way taxi drivers operate on our roads.
Some might call it a permanent pandemic, one that overrides all sense of calm and logic. Taxis are notorious for their ability to rev other motorists up the wrong way with their disregard for the rules of the road, often driving as if they are immune to consequences.
It's that same entitlement that recently saw one taxi driver extend his entitled behaviour to a fast food drive-thru. Where, after placing their order, the driver pulled out of the queue and tried to sneak back in further ahead, hoping to jump the line.
Most times, fellow motorists choose to let it go, fearing the situation could escalate; it's not uncommon for road rage to ensue when motorists try to hold taxi drivers accountable for their actions.
In an attempt to find a silver lining one content creator jokingly suggested that the only way to look at it was with admiration for their ability to find a resolution and act on it.
However, one motorist who is fed up with taxi drivers' lawless behaviour, shared a triumphant moment in traffic recently where a taxi driver got a taste of his own medicine.
In the video, a taxi driver, said to be transporting school children, chose to use the oncoming lane to beat morning traffic and was greeted by a motorist who was not standing for it.

It would be naive to think that people on social media didn't have something to say about it.

While we understand that encountering lawlessness on the roads can be frustrating, fighting back with the same attitude and behaviour is not always the solution. Authorities have also urged motorists to remain patient as they notice a rise in road rage incidents.
