Video shows Uber Eats driver trying to evade the police

By law, if a police officer tries to flag you down, you are obliged to stop your vehicle. Not this Uber Eats driver though...

We rarely see video footage of motorists taking a chance with law enforcement in South Africa, although that would be quite entertaining to watch.

Watching how some drivers are willing to make things worse for themselves by trying to evade law enforcement can make for great entertainment. Especially when they are caught, and the consequences might be worse than if they had just stopped in the first place.

A video showing an Uber Eats driver trying to evade the Tshwane Metro Police Department made a group of onlookers laugh as they passed.

What could have been just a warning turned into a traffic fine, or even worse, after he tried to flee the police van that was chasing after him.

Watch the video below from Instagram.

According to the law, the police can stop and question you.

"You are obliged to stop your car, supply your name and address and present a driver’s licence at the request of the police. If you don’t, you could be prosecuted for committing a crime," reports Juta.

Juta also revealed, "If you aren’t sure whether it’s the police trying to pull you over, there is no law stating what you should do. If it’s an unmarked vehicle, drive to the nearest police station and report the incident. You should, however, pull over if it is a marked police car."

While we are unsure as to how things ended for the Uber Eats driver, we can confidently say that according to the law, he was wrong for not stopping.
