Weather warning in China: People under 50kg to stay indoors
Updated | By Jacaranda FM / Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
Despite what many might think, this was a legitimate weather warning...

When Chinese authorities issued a weather warning a few weeks ago asking people under 50kg to stay indoors, it sounded like a prank.
But it was far from it; the warning was real and stemmed from the powerful winds coming from Mongolia, sweeping through the north of China.
People under the 50kg weight mark were at serious risk of being blown away, and while it might not be the most common thing to experience, it has happened.
"The strong winds, reaching up to 93 mph (150 kph), are the strongest in over 50 years and were caused by a cold vortex system over Mongolia. Spring dust storms are common in this region, but experts say climate change makes them more intense and dangerous." (Economic Times)

- "The way I’ll go out so that people know I'm below 50 kg."
- "At 49.4kg, it would be tough to resist the urge just to step outside and see if I can really fly."
- "I can confirm this warning is valid - I was once blown into the air in NYC in a snowstorm (I’m under 50kg)."
- "Eat cake, stay safe."
- "94 kg doesn't feel bad now lol. I'm windproof. Lol."
