Planning activities with the kids during the holidays can become costly. This is why it is always advisable to have a backup plan in place.

One that doesn't only include unlimited screentime, but also creates some fun and excitement. They also get to learn in the process. Of course, you can pose it as a fun activity.

We have three fun and easy-to-plan activities that will keep your toddler occupied.

1. Fun CVC word activity

Print out a sheet with Consonant, Vowel, Consonant (CVV) words and place it underneath a water-clear dish. Add colouring, preferably black or dark, to the water so that the words are invisible.

Then, give your child a glass, which can serve as a spotter or magnifying glass. When they place the glass in the coloured water dish, they can search for words and then mark them off on a secondary sheet that has the picture and the word.

Check out the video on how to do it from TikTok

@tinyrobin_kids Your kids will love this hands-on CVC word activity! 🤩 Here’s what to do: • Place a sheet with CVC words under a clear baking dish • Fill the dish with water and add a bit of washable black paint to make it dark • Use a clear glass like a magnifying glass to reveal the hidden word • Then find it on your worksheet and mark it off! Simple setup, screen-free fun, and a playful way to learn CVC words! 🔥 #cvcwords #earlyreading #learningthroughplay #preschoolreading #phonicsactivity #literacyfun #screenfreeactivities #phonicsfun #funlearningforkids #preschoolathome #readingisfun ♬ Edamame (Instrumental) - Animaux Et Paysage La Chaine
2. Popsicle stick puzzle

Lay out popsicle sticks side by side in a straight line. Use clear tape to secure the sticks. On the other side, add stickers to the popsicle sticks. Then, carefully cut between the sticks, creating individual puzzle pieces.

Watch how to do it on the TikTok video below.

Tape the back of the popsicle sticks to keep them in place while adding stickers and cutting. Place stickers across the popsicle sticks, creating a continuous image or design. 3. Fill in the dots

This activity is easy to set up, but will give you about 20 minutes to yourself.

Just draw circles of different sizes and colours on a sheet of paper and place them inside a plastic sleeve. Then, prepare jars of food-coloured water and give your child a dropper. The goal is to match the colours and fill each circle by gently squeezing the dropper.

It is also helpful for your toddler in developing their fine motor skills, pincer grip and helps your child learn patience and focus.

Watch the video below from TikTok on how this would turn out.
