3 kitchen items that can be repurposed into home decor

Using things traditionally used in the kitchen for other purposes in your home is not only savvy but also innovative.

The principles of interior design push designers and home DIYers to be environmentally sound in their design approach. Part of that means considering the three R's when redesigning your home.
These are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, but we will replace Reduce with Repurpose for this article.
We found a designer who shares her journey in redesigning her home using things that not only approach interior design from a modern point of view but also help her repurpose items. She uses items traditionally meant for one area of the house and uses them in other areas.
Her page is called Grillo Designs, and she calls herself a "Creative Serial Decorator and DIY-er."
She shared a video on TikTok with over 7.3 million views, showing how she repurposed a wooden dish rack into a bookshelf.
She hung the wooden dish racks vertically in a small space in her bedroom and slotted her books into each space provided by the wooden dowels. Not only did it give the appearance of floating books, but it was a savvy way of storing her books visually pleasingly that offered her some organisation.

@grillodesigns I’ve added more shelves to my dish rack bookshelf 🤭👀. Should I add one more? If this is the first time you are seeing this hack - then all you need is a wood dish rack (depth of at least 10cm - I get mine off eBay usually … don’t get the IKEA one ) and 2 self adhesive hooks to support each rack vertically. Let me know if you ever decide to try it

Another great kitchen item that has long been repurposed many times over in design is plates. Some plates have special meaning, others look nice, and perhaps you don't have a set anymore, so hanging them as wall art is a great way to repurpose them.
Spoons are another fantastic item to repurpose in other areas of your home. A popular way is to use them as hooks on a key holder, or again, you can zhoosh them up and make wall art.
