5 ways to keep your home clean

If you want to come home to a clean and tidy home, then try out these simple yet efficient cleaning practices.

Navigating around an untidy home is not just bad for your physical health, but also for your mental health.
It can be disturbing to live in clutter that not only halts one's productivity but also affects one's overall mood. With the school holidays in full swing, it's not easy dealing with an untidy tween or teen not doing their bit to keep the house clean.
Teaching them a few ways to keep their living spaces clean can make a world of difference, not just during the holidays but in general. It can save you time because you have a team working with you to keep your home neat, and it can also help the family feel better in their space.
Here are some easy ways to keep your home tidy.
1. Carry around a basket when tidying up
This allows you to pick up anything out of place in one go and saves time. You can reorganise everything you have collected easily, leaving the home looking neater.
2. Make your bed in the morning
This is a popular one, but remains a miss in many homes. When you start your day by making your bed, you ignite a positive start to the day, which generally results in a domino effect.
In other words, starting the day by making your bed will bring order to your day.
3. Do the washing daily or every second day
While you want to be mindful about your water consumption, seeing your laundry pile over the basket and onto the floor can be frustrating.
Instead of leaving the laundry basket to the end of the week, try to squeeze in a cycle midweek so you are not so overwhelmed on the weekend.
4. Declutter surfaces
You don't realise the benefits of a clean desk, table, or kitchen counter until you see one cluttered. Make sure to declutter your surfaces at least once daily; this, like making your bed, can positively affect your productivity levels and mood.
5. Never have a dirty sink
Always wash up the dishes. Even if your dishwasher is full, wash the dishes in the sink and wipe off the kitchen surfaces.
These are just a few things to do around the home that allow you to maintain a healthy mood. Your surroundings play a significant role in how your day progresses. Think about that the next time you put off cleaning.
