4 truths all parents should acknowledge
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp/Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
These parenting truths aren't shared to make you feel bad or guilty, but to remind all parents that we mould our kids more than we realise.

It might not seem like it, but parenting can be one of the most challenging jobs ever. It tests the brightest of people in ways they never imagined.
It's scary to acknowledge that you can instantly influence a child's character and behaviour, and that influence could last a lifetime – an issue many parents face.
A mother posted a video sharing some hard truths every parent should acknowledge.
These truths truly hit home because sometimes we don't realise how our actions as parents also have consequences.

Reem Raouda, an advocate for emotionally safe parenting, shared these truths by Early Years expert Jess Martin on Instagram.
1. Your patience becomes your child's anxiety.
2. Your judgement becomes their self-doubt.
3. Your disappointment becomes their shame.
4. Your criticism becomes their inner voice.
"The biggest predictor of your child's future mental health is the relationship you have with them. Let that sink in," she said.
Parenting is hard and complex, and we’re all doing the best we can with what we know. Every child is unique, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. This isn’t about judgment but a reminder of how much our words and actions can shape our kids. It’s about being more intentional with our words, our reactions, and the way we show up for our children every day. Awareness gives us the chance to grow, repair, and parent with even more love and intention.- Jess Martin
