American traveller helps South African 'stranded' in Peru

There's a plot twist here that even we didn't see coming...

An American man who often posts content about his travels around the world shared an encounter with a South African woman in Lima, Peru.
The man, who goes by the name Passport Papi on social media, shared how he had just landed in Lima, Peru and was approached by a woman who said she was from South Africa.
She told him that she was stranded after a taxi driver allegedly robbed her on the way to the airport. She was staying outside and needed money to get to Ecuador so she could get help from the South African embassy.
While he was suspicious of her story, he went on to verify some of the details she shared and decided to give her the money and a little extra to get to Ecuador and for some basic needs.
The tourist was empathetic to her age and said it was cold in Peru, and noticed that she was wearing a summer dress while sitting on a park bench.
Take a look at the video below where she explains her story, courtesy of Instagram.
He later found out that she was, in fact, a known scammer after he came across a Facebook page called 'Let’s stop Petranella Lee!’
On his Instagram page, he wrote: "‘Petra’ has been lying to travellers for 15+ years, with similar stories in Peru and Ecuador. There is a Facebook page called ‘Let’s stop Petranella Lee!’ detailing her history. I bought her a bus ticket to Ecuador because I felt bad for her, scam or not.
"Either way, she needs help to get deported back to South Africa & receive mental health care - if any officials in Peru or Ecuador see this - I can provide a statement, thanks."
