How much money would make you smile?

Weddings make people smile mainly because it is a happy occasion that ignites celebratory feelings.
However, the Kalabari people from Nigeria have a special wedding tradition where the bride does not smile but keeps a straight face until she is satisfied with how much money the groom sprays or throws at her. Brides are usually happy on their big day, but this tradition sees many brides show off the most blank and uninterested look.
The unique wedding tradition, usually called 'money spraying,' is when grooms shower their brides with money until she smiles. The bride aims to empty the groom's pockets before she lets out a smile, and the grooms always seem prepared to make her smile.
After all, we are nothing without our traditions, right?

The tradition symbolises wealth and prosperity, wishing the bridal couple well in their marriage.

, the money spraying tradition has evolved."The tradition of money spraying has evolved significantly over the years. What started as a modest act of throwing small denominations has transformed into a grand display of affluence and goodwill, with guests often competing to outdo one another in their generosity.
Introducing new currencies and increased accessibility to money have further enhanced the spectacle of money spraying, making it a highlight of Nigerian weddings."

@rivers_brides If "understanding the assignment" was a bride 台 The groom and his friends went from spraying & spraying to smiling, laughing and even begging but the bride did not budge. I'm sure she has been waiting all her life to do this tradition on her wedding day. For those who don't know, this is an ljaw tradition where the bride doesn't smile till she's satisfied with the amount of money sprayed by the groom, his family and friends. #DePerekemes24 #RiversBrides View all comments neetah_lyon Love it Live Coverage: @riversbrides Bride: @felipupa Groom: @perekeme_of_bayelsa Bride's Outfits: @finieecouture #RiversBrides ♬ original sound - Love 😍
