Could AI teachers be the solution to informed learning

Many have said it before, education shouldn't be a one-size-fits-all approach, especially because each student learns differently and requires a tailor-made formula to help them learn.

Learners sitting in a classroom in front of screens and being taught by artificial intelligence (AI) isn't something we anticipated.
After all, with all the naysayers focusing on their fears around implementing AI in the workforce, and the misuse of AI in educational establishments, not everyone thought about the good that AI could bring to our kids.
A school in Texas, Alpha School has redefined how students use AI in their learning, and from what we're hearing, it seems like a good fit.
According to Forbes: "Their model is built around a bold claim: By leveraging AI-driven, adaptive learning technology, students can complete an entire day’s worth of academics in just two hours. The rest of the day is dedicated to life skills, passion projects, and co-curricular activities, balancing independent mastery and communal engagement."
The traditional education system is based on a one-size-fits-all approach and doesn't necessarily consider individual learners in the teaching practice.
With students learning in isolation, the AI system can assess the learner's needs, identify where the gaps in learning stem from, and deal with them in a personalised way. This also doesn't pressure the learner to keep up with the rest of the class, but rather work at their own pace.
In other words, this approach to learning allows learners to feed off the social benefits of going to school, without the "traditional inefficiencies".
How it all works. Students spend two hours a day with their AI teachers, engaging in a highly personalised curriculum in the core subjects: math, reading, science, and social science.
"The AI-driven system assesses their knowledge in real time, identifying gaps and ensuring they achieve mastery before progressing. This mastery-based approach allows students to advance far beyond grade level if they are ready, or to fill in foundational gaps before proceeding," reports Forbes.

The role of teachers has evolved in this school. They have become 'guides', helping to mentor and motivate learners to stay engaged and focused on their outcomes.
According to Forbes: "While many online or independent programmes allow students to learn at their own pace, they often lack a school environment's social and motivational aspects."
The Alpha School model eliminates this problem, providing a fair mix of individualised learning and group immersion. The focus on activities such as public speaking, leadership, entrepreneurship, and other practical skills, Alpha is helping prepare students for the real world.
