It's time to get the kid's back into the school beat

With one week left, it's best to get the kids back into their school routine.

A video on social media got us thinking about how kids must be feeling this week. It showed a little girl using her legs to brake as she tried not to speed down the hill on her driveway.

Sorry, kids, the time has come, and your holidays are almost over. While the kids might be sad that their winter break iscoming to an ending, most parents are whistling in delight.

On that note, it's best to start getting back into routine so that you don't struggle the night before it's back to school.

1. Reduce screen time

The holidays sometimes mean unlimited screen time for the kids. Try to reduce the amount of screen time your kids have this week. Replace the screen time with reading or revision work from the second term.

2. Adjust bedtime

Many kids have a habit of going to bed and waking up later during the school holidays. Gradually shift bedtime so that you have them back into their school night bedtime routine a few nights before school starts.

3. Speak positively

Sit down with the kids and identify their goals for term three. You could encourage them to create a vision board to engage them positively. They can include activities they want to do, subjects they want to focus more on, projects they want to undertake, volunteering ideas, or internships they would like to pursue.

4. Get ready

Get them involved in washing their school shoes, backpacks, uniforms, packing their bags, and working out their lunch menu. Picking out stationery, if that's required in the new term.

5. Practice run

Get the kids to do a practice run two days before they go back to school so they get back into the rhythm of things. Commit entirely by getting them to do a drill down to getting ready and eating breakfast.
