We always keep our ears close to the ground for life hacks that save us time. Most people will tell you that hacking their way through life is the only way to save them time.

As we all know, time is a priceless commodity. We found a video by Neat Caroline on TikTok. She is a home expert based in New York City and shared some hacks that she described as odd but helpful.

1. An easy way of peeling garlic

You can peel garlic faster by placing it inside the microwave for 20 seconds. The peel slips right off.

2. Paper towel hacks

Did you know you can use a wet paper towel to keep your chopping board from moving on your countertop?

You can double up the use of that wet paper towel by wrapping it around a bottle of something that needs chilling. Champagne, juice, cold drink or soda, preferably an item that is in a glass bottle.

3. Keep cheese fresh for longer

Finding your cheese mouldy after just a few days in the fridge can be frustrating. To keep your cheese fresher for longer, wrap it with parchment paper.

4. Cleaning your blender

To ensure your blender is cleaned properly after use, add soap and water and blend it to ensure the soap cleans all the nooks and crannies.

5. Iron faster with foil

You can iron both sides of your clothing by lining your ironing board with aluminium foil.

6. Hair straightener

Who said hair straighteners were only for straightening hair? You can use your hair straightener to straighten out your cotton collared shirt.

7. Wooden spoon

This one is super helpful; it saves you time from cleaning up when you spill something on the stove. Place a wooden spoon over the pot when boiling something to prevent it from spilling over.
