SA family show appreciation for helper on her birthday

Many South African households have someone special to thank for holding down the fort. In many homes the domestic helper, plays a pivotal role in the family.

They ensure that the home is clean and tidy and are trusted to care for the youngest members of the family. 

A local mother and teacher shared a heartfelt video on social media that had Mzansi overwhelmed with emotion. Despite feeling ill, Sune Koen shared how she had to do something special for her helper, Joyce. 

Koen shared a video of her family gathering to celebrate Joyce's birthday, with each of her kids presenting 'Joycie', as they call her, with a special gift.

The video, which has over 241,000 views, was welcomed with open arms by social media users, who expressed their gratitude for employers such as Koen and her family.
