Son's honesty gets him out of timeout

Son's honesty gets him out of timeout

A child's honesty is something else; sometimes, the only way around it is laughter and acceptance.

A father's love affects children differently. Some children are more fearful of their fathers, who tend to be disciplinarians, while others spot that their dads are softer.

There is no perfect formula when it comes to parenting. Different parenting styles work for different parents and their children.

This generation of fathers isn't as strict or rigid as the last generation.

Discipline is another chapter from the parenting book that has many parents freestyling. While we can understand the importance of raising a respectful child, it's all relative and fairly subjective in this parenting age.

For example, when they practice timeouts with children, what does this teach them? That there are consequences to their actions, or that if they don't do what they're supposed to, they must be quiet or face a wall? When we say it out loud, it may sound a bit ridiculous.

A father trying to instil some discipline in his toddler was defeated when his son used honesty to counteract the punishment.

Each time the dad asked his son, if he would repeat the wrongdoing, the boy innocently answered 'yes'. That's the thing about children; they can win arguments every time because they approach them with honesty. The problem is that, as parents, we are sometimes unprepared for their honesty because we are still hung up on a 'traditional' approach of punishment and conformity.
