Toddler's emotional move after mom tells her to clean up

Surely cleaning your room cannot be that bad for you to be willing to leave the house?

Kids can sometimes get over-the-top with their reactions to certain things, but watching a child overreact somehow never gets old.

Some parents have been known to get their feathers ruffled over the smallest of things, and as the saying goes, we are their most influential examples. Not to place blame, but life can make parenting that much more challenging at times, which leads to us responding in the most dramatic of ways.

A video shared on social media shows a toddler standing at the door with a sack over her shoulder. She is emotional, and her mother, who is recording her, asks her why she was running away.

The toddler, overcome with emotion and tears running down her cheeks, cannot speak clearly, but we hear her say, "Because you asked me to clean my room."

Evidently, she was overreacting, but her mother calmly said, "Okay, I'll see you later then".

Judging from the comments, it seems this is a common occurrence.

"My son did this!! He decided to run to my neighbour's house. He told her that I had made him clean his room. She said that if he wanted to stay, he had to clean as well in her house. He was back an hour later," one mother commented.

"She is wearing snow boots bc that’s the only shoes she could get on without help. How do I know? My 4-year-old “ran away” in snow boots when we explained school was every day and he had to go."

Another parent said: "I did the same thing. It’s been 3 weeks and my wife & kids still don’t know what happened to me."

"My daughter was 10 when she packed her backpack and ran away. She came back 5 minutes later because she thought she saw a raccoon."
