Bear hunt leaves authorities fuming
Updated | By Poelano Malema
Alberta’s environmental ministry is reportedly looking at banning spear hunting after a video showing Josh Bowmar hunting a bear in the country went viral.

According to The Guardian, the ministry called Bowmar’s behaviour "archaic and unacceptable".
“What was also shocking was the breathless celebration of the hunter, acting as if he had really gotten somewhere in life and achieved something no one had done before. He’s probably right – very few people have ever engaged in depravity and evil quite like he did,” Wayne Pacelle, chief executive of the Humane Society, told the publication.

The ministry reportedly said in a statement that “it has asked Fish and Wildlife officers to investigate this incident to determine if charges are warranted under existing laws.”
However, CBC reports that Alberta Fish and Wildlife say Bowmar won’t face any charges, as what he did is not illegal - hence the call for the new law to be implemented.
The video caused outrage on social media.
