China's 'buff grandpa' is proof that a gym membership will change your life
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
Xu Zhilin is proof that you are never too old to start taking care of your health.
It doesn't take much to convince people that going to the gym is a good idea. The science of exercise is indisputable - but that does not mean we all have the discipline required to make the most of a gym membership.
You might think you are too tired or too poor, or even too old to start going to the gym. But Chengdu's Xu Zhilin would disagree. The Chinese citizen only started taking exercise seriously when he was 40 years old. The results of his efforts have been remarkable.
Sixty-two-year-old Xu started going to the gym when he noticed that his ongoing health concerns - with his spine and his knees - could only be remedied by a drastic lifestyle change.
Xu is disciplined and, while he admits his age can be a challenge when it comes to keeping fit, he works out six days a week, even carrying some exercise equipment with him when he travels.
Xu's efforts have earned him the title of "buffest grandpa".
