Nicole Kidman traps spider, instantly becomes kids' hero
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
What does a Hollywood star like Nicole Kidman do when she spots a spider invading the corners of her home?
There is a certain level of fame and fortune that, once you achieve it, surely means that you no longer have to deal with the quotidian dramas of everyday domestic life. That's the kind of fame that Nicole Kidman, acclaimed actress and producer, certainly has.
But it turns out that when she is at home with her kids, her most important title is "super mom". She will do anything to keep her kids safe and happy, as demonstrated by this video that she shared on her Instagram account.
As her children scream in distress in the background, taking turns warning her to stay away from the black tarantula, Nicole remains calm.

We see the spider scurrying into the family's swimming pool (something which kicks the children's hysteria up to a higher gear) and then in the next moment, the spider is trapped under a glass.
Nicole smiles in that serene, all-knowing way of hers and there is notably no more drama audible in the background. She appears to have done what every mother does in a stressful situation: found an efficient solution to the problem and managed to calm everybody down.
Might it be Nicole's childhood in Australia that equipped her with the skills to safely get rid of spiders in her home?
Whatever it was that gave her the courage, her children are surely grateful that they can always rely on their mother in times of distress.
Now if only us ordinary folk could also call on Nicole for help with our own household pests...
