North Carolina bear dramatically smashes through car window
A couple on a camping trip in North Carolina were surprised to find a bear locked inside their car - and they couldn't have anticipated what would happen next.
When you go on a camping trip in the woods, you expect to encounter some form of wild animal - but you still hope that the distance between yourself and the potentially dangerous creature will be enough to keep you safe. So, what happens if a wild bear wanders right into your car?
Nicole Minkin Lissenden faced such a predicament during an outing with her husband in North Carolina. The couple left the car closed but unlocked as they attended to other camping errands. When Nicole returned to the car to retrieve something, she noticed the bear had locked itself inside.
They tried to open the car using a remote control and when that didn't work, Nicole's husband approached the car and attempted to open the door quickly enough to let the bear out without startling it. But the bear had other plans.
The bear smashed through the driver's side window and manoeuvred itself out in a manner suggesting that the animal was no stranger to getting out of such tricky positions.
The state of the car window is not ideal, but Nicole and her husband are just happy that the bear did not bring them any harm. There is one very disturbing detail that comes out of this story: wild bears know how to open car doors.
This changes all future camping plans...
