Barney shares emotional video of blind man regaining his sight
Updated | By Nkhensani Manabe
After being declared legally blind in 1998, Joe Vasconcelos had the opportunity to see his family's faces for the first time since using a pair of high-tech glasses.
It is difficult to imagine how a person copes without their sight? There is always the feeling that if a blind person could have their sight back, just for one day, it would be the greatest gift.

This wish came true for Joe Vasconcelos, a father from Massachusetts, who has been legally blind since 1998. Thanks to technology from a company called E-Sight, Joe was able to put on a headset that had a built-in HD camera and OLED displays. This headset transmitted an augmented reality video to Joe, allowing him to see his family and his wife for the first time in two decades.
It was a beautiful moment, with Joe seeing the face of his seven-year-old son for the first time, and making comments about his 24-year-old son's strange haircut.
Joe told the New York Post: "I’d still pictured my wife as a younger version of herself, but she still is as beautiful as ever."

The E-Sight glasses cost $10,000 (R140,000), but that seems like a small price to pay for tender moments with your family.
