Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Politicians from across the spectrum have expressed their sadness following the death of struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.

Madikizela-Mandela died aged 81 in a Johannesburg hospital on Monday.
Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane described her as an incredible woman who contributed immensely to the struggle for freedom.
"We join those who love freedom, those who recognise her contribution in mourning," Maimane says.
He says the DA will continue to fight to preserve her legacy.
United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader Bantu Holomisa says Madikizela-Mandela's death came as a shock.
President of the Congress of the People (COPE) Mosiuoa Lekota says she fought for both gender and national freedom.
Lekota says he hopes that South Africans will continue to be encouraged by her life's work.
"We pray that she rest in glory," Lekota says.
