South Africa has been abuzz after news broke on Wednesday night that Jacob Zuma had stepped down as the President of the Republic.

Many took to social media to share their thoughts and joy after hearing the news.

To get a bit more of an insider's view, Breakfast Show hosts Martin and Tumi spoke to the DA's John Steenhuisen about the discussions that were had behind the scenes.

"I think that some people in the ANC had met with him after that initial interview and said to him you can either go now on your own terms or go on Parliament's terms tomorrow," said Steenhuisen.

Steenhuisen also reflected on what the current situation in South Africa looks like ahead of the arrival of a new President.
