Good Morning Angels: A big surprise for 63 children of the President Kruger Children’s Home
The President Kruger Children’s home in Pretoria looks after 63 children between the ages of two and 18 years old.
BACKGROUND: The President Kruger Children’s home in Pretoria looks after 63 children from the ages of two to 18 years of age. All the children are placed in the care of the home by the courts which means that all of the residents in this home have known extreme poverty, abuse, trauma, neglect or physical abuse in their young lives. The staff of the home do all they can to provide everything a growing child needs but it is a battle to raise funds and provide for 63 children. The funds they receive from the state covers more or less a third of the monthly expenses - when the necessities are covered, there is no money for luxuries like new mattresses and bedding. The Good Morning Angels contacted some of our very good friends to help and do more than just the basics. This morning we take hands with the Caring Daisies, Spur and our good friend and Jacaranda Day artist, Jo Black, to show the children of the President Kruger Children’s Home just how special and loved they are.

Die President Kruger Kinderhuise is geleë in Pretoria en Reddersburg en is gestig in 1939. Die Kinderhuise is geregistreer om elk 63 kinders te versorg, waarvan die ouderdomme wissel vanaf 2 jaar tot 18 jaar. Al ons kinders word by ons op grond van ‘n hofbevel geplaas as gevolg van verskeie redes soos gesinsgeweld, mislukte pleegsorgplasings, verslawing van ouers aan afhanklikheidsmiddele, molestering, te kort aan versorgingsmiddele weeskinders en ander trauma verwante oorsake.
Doelwitte en daaglikse behoeftes:
Die kinders in ons sorg word soos ons eie kinders versorg en word daar nie net klem gelê op die fisiese versorging nie maar word daar baie aandag geskenk aan die geestelike, emosionele, opvoedkundige en skolastiese versorging van al die kinders in ons sorg. Fisiese versorging sluit nie net in daaglikse versorging soos voedsel, klere, higiëne en behuising nie, maar ook Mediese versorging soos tandheelkunde, geestesgesondheid, optometrie, spraakterapie en arbeidsterapie.
In die 2015/2016 boekjaar beloop die kostes per kind per maand in ons sorg ongeveer R 8591 waarvan die Departement van Welsyn en Bevolkingsontwikkeling R2904 per kind per maand subsidieer. Die tekort per maand beloop dus +/- R5687 per kind (126 kinders) wat die Kinderhuis vanuit ander bronne moet bekom. Om te voorsien in die tekort op ons begroting, word verskeie fondsinsamelingsprojekte gehou maar raak ons al meer afhanklik van goedgunstige donateurs soos byvoorbeeld individue, korporatiewe besigheidslui, kerke ens. Enige hulp, borgskappe, donasies of betrokkenheid aan en by ons kinders is altyd baie welkom en help ons om ‘n hoë standaard van opvoeding en versorging van ons kinders te handhaaf.
