It's a week of celebrating local heroes on Breakfast with Martin Bester.

Earlier this week, Martin Bester spoke to Bailey Trollip, 15, from Centurion, who saved the life of a truck driver in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.

Trollip was travelling to Durban with his grandmother to rescue dogs.

Another incredible story that grabbed the attention of many South Africans is that of Lieutenant Colonel Mandie Davel.

She is being hailed a hero for the role she played in delivering a baby.

A distressed mother called the Springs police station for assistance after she went into labour, but she couldn’t wait for an ambulance.

Luckily for her, Davel was a midwife and with the help of a fellow police officer, she delivered the baby.

The child and the mother were then transported to the hospital for further care. They are in good health.

Mangwanani Spa has kindly sponsored a half-day spa treatment for Lieutenant Colonel Davel.
