How do you find peace after divorce? Helena Kriel explains
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Deciding whether your marriage is over or if you've still got some fight left is obviously not a choice that comes easily.
When do you know it is over?
Breakfast with Martin Bester chatted to South African born screenwriter, Helena Kriel about her book and her personal story ofdivorce.
Kriel found herself in a deep personal crisis, forced to ask: Where do I belong? Who do I belong with? What is family? What is tribe? Where is home?
Her memoir opens in Los Angeles, where she's an A-list screenwriter, married to the man she thought was "The One".
When the writer's strike rendered her useless and her marriage fell apart, she travelledback to her childhood home in South Africa.
Here Helena found her salvation in the heart of the bushveld through volunteering with baby rhinos, orphaned by poaching.
These rhino’s had also lost a sense of belonging and family, they too were shattered by the violence of their circumstances. Using meditation, Helena found she could access these sentient and emotional beings, helping her on her journey to peace and freedom.
Listen to the insightful conversation below.
Award winning screenwriter, Helena Kriel is a world traveler, moving between Hollywood and South Africa. She also teaches and takes people on adventures through India. She is the founder of Baby Rhino Rescue, and counts herself happiest when she is in the middle of nowhere with just a rhino for company.
