The one university most SA billionaires attended

What do you think is the one university most of South Africa's dollar billionaires attended?

According to Forbes' real-time billionaires list, there are currently six dollar billionaires in South Africa.

As of 11 June, the list includes (note: these amounts may change regularly):

  • Christo Wiese - $1,1-billion
  • Michiel le Roux - $1,2-billion
  • Patrice Motsepe – $2,8 billion
  • Koos Bekker - $2,9-billion
  • Nicky Oppenheimer and family - $9,5-billion
  • Johann Rupert and family – 12,2-billion

Except for their billionaire status, four of South Africa’s richest men also have something else in common - which university they attended.

According to Daily Investor, Johann Rupert, Koos Bekker, Christo Wiese, and Michiel Le Roux all attended Stellenbosch University.

Rupert studied towards a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Economics and Company Law, but dropped out before he started his a banking career in New York.

Bekker completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) at Stellenbosch University as well as a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at Wits and an MBA at Columbia Business School.

Le Roux completed Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degrees at Stellenbosch University.

Christo Wiese completed a Bachelor of Arts (LLB) at Stellenbosch University.

On the other hand, Nicky Oppenheimer attended Oxford University, and Patrice Motsepe studied at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) and the University of Swaziland.
