SA holiday towns that are COVID-19 hotspots
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Some of the most popular December holiday hotspots are now also COVID-19 hotspots.

Prospective holidaymakers are warned not to visit the Garden Route in the Western Cape “if they can help it” over the festive period due to the large surge of coronavirus infections.
Thousands of tourists travel in December each year from all over South Africa to places along the Garden Route to spend time with friends and family at the sea.
The Western Cape government has already considered curbing the outbreak over the possibility of restrictions at a localised level.

Dr. Keith Cloete, head of the Western Cape Health Department, advised prospective holidaymakers not to visit the garden route. The picturesque area has been identified as a COVID hotspot along with Rondebosch, Claremont, the City Centre and the Atlantic Seaboard.
