South African landmarks glow for protest

The Light SA Red movement turned South Africa red to urge the government to ease lockdown restrictions for events and productions.

The #LightSAred campaign draws attention to the situation by calling on residents to light buildings and structures across the nation red.

The South African technical crew, production, and live events industry, under the Light SA Red movement, is calling for the government to ease the lockdown restrictions and allow artists to work again.

The strict lockdown regulations and restrictions have forced many entertainment companies to shut their doors and this has caused no income for months.

On 5 August, several venues and landmarks in the country turned red, including Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront, Nelson Mandela Bay Theatre Complex, and the Northcliff Tower in Johannesburg.
