Correctional Services official dies of Covid-19

The coronavirus has claimed the life of a correctional services official in the Western Cape.
This was confirmed by the Department of Correctional Services in a statement on Thursday evening.
“We are greatly pained and saddened to confirm the death of an official based in the Western Cape. We convey our condolences to the family of the deceased and fellow colleagues,” said spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo.
The total number of cases in the country's prisons stood at 364 on Thursday, with 92 recoveries.

The Eastern Cape is the hardest-hit province with 233 confirmed cases.
In the Western Cape, a total of 111 officials and inmates have tested positive for the virus to date.
