South Africa has 16 433 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 918 of those were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Monday evening.
The Western Cape has 10 035 confirmed cases, which amount to 61.1% of total Covid-19 infections in the country.
Following the Western Cape, is Gauteng with 2343 cases and the Eastern Cape with 2052.
Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, said in his daily statement released on Monday that 22 new deaths were reported in a day – bringing the total national deaths to 286.
"As we prepare for the easing of lockdown regulations, high-risk age groups and those with co-morbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiac disease, obesity and people living with HIV must take extra precautions and necessary steps to avoid possible exposure to Covid-19," says Mkhize.
