Alfred Rananga: Caring for animals in need despite having very little himself

In this episode of Good Morning Angels: The Legacy, Alfred Rananga shares how a brutal dog attack deepened his resolve to be an angel to animals in need, even to Barnabas the Rottweiler, who almost killed him.

We met Alfred Rananga in December last year.

He retired as a dog handler and trainer in the Western Cape and returned to his home village in rural Limpopo a few years ago.

His retirement plan was subsistence farming, but he soon noticed all the stray and neglected dogs in his village.

"If we care for animals first, all will be well; we will be blessed," is Alfred's belief.

He took it upon himself to treat, feed, and care for animals in need in his village and beyond, using his small pension to fund his work.

With a wheelbarrow as his ambulance and a bicycle as his transport, Alfred travels many kilometres to help. If a dog does not make it, he gives it a dignified burial:

"… because I am the voice of the voiceless," says Alfred.
