Assisting Sihle Mlotshwa to educate the youth in Mamelodi
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Good Morning Angels assisted Sihle Mlotshwa and her First Aiducate NPO with the R35,000 needed for study guides and another R35,000 to invest in other needs for the Saturday School and her students.
Sihle Mlotshwa from Mamelodi is one of those people that makes you exclaim: "How does she do it?!”
It all started when Shile gave children in her community access to her home wifi in order for them to continue their school work during the COVID-19 lockdown. She naturally started assisting them with their work.
This grew to tutoring on a Saturday and now, four years on, she runs a Saturday School that offers tutoring and a meal to around 140 high school children every Saturday. Sihle is assisted by volunteer tutors from different churches in Pretoria - who also provide the meals for the children.

Sihle does this despite her own hardship and challenges. She lost one of her three young sons recently and she herself is fighting cancer. Sihle’s husband is a pastor and they are a family who live in faith for their community.
One of Sihles best friends, Anchen Verster, wrote to Good Morning Angels on her behalf, to request assistance with uniform study guides for the children for next year.
This would standardise the material to make learning easier for the children and the tutors. Anchen managed to get a 50% discount, but they are still around R35,000 short.

REQUEST FOR: Sihle Mlotshwa and her First Aiducate Saturday School
REQUEST FROM: Anchen Verster
ANGEL: The Good Morning Angels Fund NPC
SPONSORING: The Good Morning Angels Fund will assist Sihle and her First Aiducate NPO with the R35,000 needed for the study guides and another R35,000 to invest in other needs for the Saturday School and her students.
ORIGINAL REQUEST:My name is Anchen Verster. I would very much like to introduce you to one of my best friends - Sihle Mlotshwa. During Covid, she gave the children in her community access to her wifi in order to continue with school work. She eventually started helping them with school work and this has flourished into a Saturday School that offers tutoring for roughly 100 children in Mamelodi, Pretoria every Saturday. They also receive a meal at the centre.
In preparation for 2025, we have approached a Study guide company to ask them for a quote for study guides which follows the CAPS curriculum and will enable all attendees to have the necessary work (despite the use of different textbooks) and will help the tutors with content planning for each week. (Tutors are volunteers from different churches in Pretoria). The company has offered a 50% discount on the purchase of these study guides.

We are requesting support from someone or an organization who has a heart for township education to help us purchase these study guides. See attached quotation.
Sihle, lost one of her children following routine surgery and now is currently fighting cancer. Despite her loss and struggle, she has a huge heart for these students and many see her as a mother figure. I'd be so excited if we can help her to help her students in 2025.
I've only shared a small part of this big story. First Aiducate is a registered NPO (http://firstaiducate.org) and hopes to eventually start a formal school in Mamelodi to provide quality education, and thereby changing the future trajectory for these children.
Your consideration of this request is very much appreciated! Thank you for the amazing work you do!!
Best regards
Anchen Verster
