Vivek Parsotam achieved a phenomenal seven As and a 92% average when he matriculated in Isipingo, KwaZulu-Natal, in 2020. Three years on, he’s working at a warehouse in Pretoria West, still trying to save up enough funds to achieve his education dream of studying Law at the University of Cape Town.

"Growing up, I observed my father's commitment to upholding the law and protecting our community as a police officer for over 25 years. His unwavering dedication to justice has inspired me to follow in his footsteps, and I believe that a legal education will enable me to continue this important work."

Vivek's family lost their home and life savings due to fraud and he has vowed to prevent this from happening to other families - and that’s what motivates him to work hard and save up. His savings are not nearly enough and he has already been accepted for this chosen course.

That's why Vivek wrote to Good Morning Angels to apply for a Willard Batteries Bursary.

Vivek’s Matric results: Eng 95%, Afr 95%, Maths 87%, Accounting 94%, Life Science 85%, Physical Science 83%, Life Orientation 97%

ORIGINAL REQUEST:

Good day

My name is Vivek Parsotam and I would like to apply for the Willard bursary. I have been accepted to the University of Cape Town to study Law and I require your assistance to help my dream come true.

My passion for justice and the welfare of my community has inspired me to pursue a legal education, and I am confident that this bursary will provide me with the skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on those around me. My ultimate goal is to one day use my legal expertise and skills to protect and serve my community and provide justice for those who have been wronged.

Growing up, I observed my father's commitment to upholding the law and protecting our community as a police officer for over 25 years. His unwavering dedication to justice has inspired me to follow in his footsteps, and I believe that a legal education will enable me to continue this important work.

I have witnessed firsthand the impact that injustice can have on individuals and families. We lost our house and our lifetime savings due to fraudulent contractors and were unable to get anything back. I want to make sure that others don't have to endure the same devastating consequences without anyone to help them.

I have seen firsthand the struggles that my family faced due to a breach of trust and the devastating effects it had on our lives. It was this experience that has prompted me to pursue a law degree and ensure that others don't suffer the same fate. I want to be there to help and make sure that everyone is treated fairly, and justice is served.

I took a gap year after I finished Matric to work in a warehouse to save up for my University fees however, it is nowhere near enough.

I am confident that the education I receive at this University will provide me with the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for the protection of our citizens.

I would be grateful for the opportunity to further discuss my strengths and goals and explain why I am the most deserving candidate for your bursary. I have attained an average of 92% in my Matric year and attained distinctions for National Benchmark Tests required by universities[see attached].

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you.

Please find all necessary documents attached to this application.

Kind regards

Vivek Parsotam
