GMA: Helping a widowed, single mom of six, save her baby-son’s leg
After the horrific loss of her husband, Carin Janse van Rensburg's family's life turned upside down when she lost her husband and father to six children. A few months later, he 3-year old son, Jayven, was diagnosed with cancer in his right leg. He is receiving chemo and treatment, but she’s been advised that he may loose his leg. Their only hope is Dr. Keith Hoskins in Cape Town, and she is in dire need of help.

BACKGROUND: Carin Janse van Rensburg and her family’s lives changed in a moment in August last year. Carin, her husband and their six children moved into a new home in Vereeniging a week before.
She runs a pre-school and has four boys (aged 16, 9 and 3) and two girls of her own to care for. When she received a call from the school, that her 9-year old son (then 8 and in grade 2) had itchy eyes - her husband went to pick him up from school and take him home - in case he could infect other children. Ten minutes after he dropped his son off with two helpers at home - who were helping Carin unpack and move in - they got another call. This time, one of the helpers - distressed - said there were men breaking into the property - it was a house robber at 10 in the morning.
Carin’s husband rushed home - while she called the police and followed him in her own car.
She saw her husband, being gunned down by the robbers …
He died on the way to hospital. Five months later, on 6 January, she got more devastating news … Her 3-year old Jayven was diagnosed with cancer in his right leg - in his femur. He is receiving chemo and treatment, but she’s been advised that he may loose his leg. Their only hope is Dr. Keith Hoskins in Cape Town.
He has done several successful operations that could save Jayven’s leg.
But, they are in a race against time … and she has to raise R500 000,00 to give Jayven a fighting chance to keep his leg.
She has managed to raise R150 000,00 so far, while the chemo needs to carry on for another seven rounds. (The medical aid only covers 50% of costs and then there is the travel and chemo costs)

This is the story in short……
I don't normally do this, but today I need all everyone to please open their hearts to this beautiful little boy. He's daddy got shot dead by armed robbers in their house a couple of months ago, before they knew he has Cancer. He's got a twin brother and 4 other sisters and brothers. The doctors told his mommy she has 12 days (until 27 May) to get R500 000,00 for his surgery otherwise they have to amputate his leg.
