Good Morning Angels: A helping hand for a widowed grandmother and provider for eight

Lerato has run out of ideas and options to assist her neighbour, and that’s when she wrote to Good Morning Angels.

BACKGROUND: Lerato wrote to Good Morning Angels from Botshabello in the Free State. She is very worried about her neighbour, Maria, who is the only provider for her family of eight. Maria first lost her husband two years ago and then her son, who had a brain tumour.

Maria now looks after six grandchildren, her daughter, and herself on a government pension. Lerato has contacted their local councillor for assistance with food parcels for Maria and her family, as well as an RDP home, but without response. Besides food, Maria’s biggest concern is her grandchildren’s school clothes and stationary. Lerato has run out of ideas and options to assist her neighbour, and that’s when she wrote to Good Morning Angels.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:

Hi Jacaranda FM!

I Lerato would like to nominate my neighbour Maria, she is a single grandparent of 6. Maria is currently supporting a household of 8 including herself on her grant pension money she receives from the government.

Maria lost her husband 2 years ago and a son 1 year ago due to a brain tumour. Now, she is the sole provider of the household. Maria is struggling to keep a plate of food on the table for her household of 8. It's really tough. She also needs assistance with stationery and school clothing for her grandchildren. One of the grandchildren starting grade 1 next year.
Maria's main worry is her grandchildren's school uniforms and stationery that she is unable to provide for next year. Maria has been through the most and still going through the most. Please Good Morning Angels, put a smile upon Maria's face, take the tears out her face and the stress of her shoulders by assisting her. It would really be a huge privilege if Good Morning Angels and Jacaranda FM could please bless this unfortunate family with some groceries, school clothing and stationery to better their situation.

Please assist.

Thank you,

Lerato
