Good Morning Angels rallied a few generous Angels to assist Nayleo Sanna on his journey to becoming a Protea.

Nayleo Sanna is a 17-year-old cricket player and budding star of the future. He's played provincial cricket and won cricket awards since primary school.

He was scouted at a tournament to play for Hoërskool Garsfontein in Grade 8. Sanna is described as a Bowling All-rounder; a left-handed batsman and a right-handed fast bowler.

The young cricket star currently plays for his school's first team as well as Premier League Club Cricket for the TUT team.

He also played Northerns Premier League for Adelaar Cricket Club, Northerns u/17s, and was in the winning team at the Marensky Cricket Week, where he was awarded the Best u/18 Bowler award.

However, Nayleo does all of this despite not owning his own cricket gear.

He's a growing young man whose spikes don't last a season. He lives with his dad in Danville, gets up at 4:30 every morning, travels with two taxis to school, and comes home by taxi at around 7pm at night.

Both his parents lost their jobs and his older brother Xavier supports where he can.

Despite the hardship of everyday life and having to rely on borrowed gear, Nayleo excels in his beloved sport.

He has a big tournament and matric year ahead and that's why his brother Xavier wrote to Good Morning Angels to assist Nayleo with the cricket gear needed, in order to make 2024 the biggest year of his young life.

"I am humbly asking if the Angels will be able to reach out with a helping hand for my brother, who is pursuing his dream of playing for the Proteas and winning us a World Cup," wrote Xavier.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:

Good day, Angels

I hope this email finds you well.

I am writing on behalf of my younger brother, Nayleo, who is trying to pursue a career in cricket and is in dire need of cricket equipment.

My brother, a 17-year-old student in Grade 11 at Hoërskool Garsfontein, was brought to the school on a bursary by Malan Morkel, who scouted him when he played under 13 Titans. He is committed to playing cricket and to the school in such a way that he has been waking up at 4:30 in the morning every day since he was in Grade 8 to take 2 taxis to school and got home at 7/8 at night on days that he had training or games.

He is currently opening the bowling for the school and has been selected for the Titans under-17 team, and will be competing in a provincial tournament in December 2023.

Our parents are divorced and both my mother and father recently lost their jobs and are unable to buy the equipment he needs. I am currently working, but with a baby on the way I don't have the funds to buy him any equipment. I have reached out to multiple people that I know as well as seeking sponsorships from cricket companies but have not managed to get help from anyone.

It is not easy for him to borrow equipment from other players or play with the equipment he has that is in bad condition.

I am humbly asking if the Angels will be able to reach out with a helping hand for my brother who is pursuing his dream of playing for the Proteas and winning us a world cup.

Best regards,

Xavier Zinzan Sanna
