The issue of absent fathers is big in South Africa.

According to Stats SA, 42% of children in South Africa live only with their mothers. This is due to a range of reasons. But one common reason is that parents break up and the mother is left to raise the children alone.

Raising children on your own is never easy, especially if that was not the plan from the beginning.

Laconco, Jacob Zuma's ex-fiancée and baby mama, has also shared her struggles of raising her child with her mother, instead of the baby's father. The star gave birth to Jacob Zuma's last born in 2018. The boy shares a birthday with his father.

In last week's episode of 'Real Housewives of Durban', the star broke down as she opened up about how she has been raising her boy child with her mother and how that was never the plan.

"The circumstances that I went through, I had to come to a point where I accept that this is the situation, these are the circumstances, okay this is it. I never knew that I would be at a stage where I'm raising my son with my mom," she said.

"I never fell in love to be at this situation today," she revealed.

She went on to talk about her relationship with the former president.

"No one gets into a relationship, especially when you are young, and say you are getting into a relationship to fail," she said.

She added that she has suffered scars as a result of the relationship.

"Unfortunately, situations or circumstances have caused the relationship to be where it is today. My scars with my child's father, I don't think that it is scars that will ever heal," she said.
