SuperMash (Prince Mashawana), South Africa's very own superhero, is setting out to inspire and unite us in these very uncertain times.

Prince recently celebrated his eighth birthday, and to mark it, SuperMash launched the #SuperMashChallenge. It is a 30-second dancing and sanitising challenge where he encourages the general public, especially children, to get involved and share it with friends and family.

“This challenge is for kids to have some fun with their family at home at the same time we are making sure that South Africans are sanitizing and fighting this pandemic.”

SuperMash believes that this challenge will unite South Africans as he believes that kids can do it with their parents or grandparents. The challenge was released on his Instagram account.

"With Youth Month coming up in a few days, I want to celebrate us as kids and young people with my SuperMash song. Seeing kids like me dancing to the song and sanitizing will build the superhero atmosphere we need now to get through this pandemic."

Who is SuperMash?

SuperMash is the country’s first black child fictional superhero, who reciprocally encourages young kids to see themselves as heroes. The idea is for him to be the friend that can share his superpowers, and this is unleashed by wearing the SuperMash wrist band. Not only will children be better equipped to meet and overcome challenges, but they will also learn the true depth of the power within themselves as they assume personal responsibility, grow emotionally and boost self-awareness.
