Fat transfer, also known as fat grafting or fat injection, can give you the body of your dreams.

The surgery is popular, mostly among celebrities. In 2018, singer Mshoza made headlines after she took to social media to show off her Brazilian butt lifts.

If like Mshoza, you are also wishing for a butt lift, or to enhance any part of your body, you can!

The surgery enhances the parts of the body that you want to be enlarged such as curves, butt, and breasts.

This is done by removing unwanted fat from body parts such as the belly or thighs.

Is the fat transfer procedure safe?

Dr M Premchand from Herrwood Medical Centre says this surgery is safe, however, even though “most people can do the procedure”, it should only be done after “consultation with the doctor”. He says it is the doctor who can advise if one can proceed with the procedure or not.

The choice of doctor or surgeon is very important. You must ensure that you choose a reputable, experienced doctor to avoid unwanted results or health complications. It is also important to not just trust the doctor based on what he or she says if there is no proof of the work done. Review as many photographic examples of what he or she has done and do your research about the doctor before proceeding with the surgery.

If you do the surgery and do not like how you look, Dr Premchand says: “Patients are advised that it is a permanent procedure.” However, “technically, fat can be removed again.”

On the recovery process after the surgery, Dr Premchand says the “patient should rest for two days but normal day-to-day activities can be done.”

According to Dr Premchand, the procedure costs between R12,000 and R20,000.

He adds that to maintain the shape after the operation, "medical garments are used to ensure an optimum outcome".
