How to check if an egg is still fresh or rotten
Updated | By Poelano Malema
Here is a simple test that will let you know if an egg is fresh or rotten...
Eggs remain fresh for weeks, however, as time passes, they decompose because of bacteria or mold.
Many of us discard the packing that shows the expiration date on the eggs.
When you have had your eggs for a while and are not sure what their expiration date is, it might be a good idea to test them first.
There is nothing worse that finding out that an egg has gone bad after you have already cracked its shell.

The good news is that there is a way to test if the eggs are good or bad.
The simplest test is to smell the egg and check for any offish smell, another test is to check if the shell is cracked, slimy or powdery.
The most reliable test is the floating test. Place your egg in a bowl of water. If the egg sinks, know that it is fresh. However, if it tilts upward or even floats, it is old.
