Siblings Day: Our presenters share what they love most about their siblings

April 10 is Siblings Day - a day to appreciate siblings relationships.

Even though you might not always tell your brothers and sisters just how much they mean to you, today is a special day to do just that.

While many sibling relationships are filled with fighting and crying growing up, there’s also plenty of laughter, fun and love. Whether it's making fun of parents, or if you’re just in need of someone to vent to, there is no doubt that you can usually count on your siblings.

In celebration of Siblings Day, some of our presenters share just how much their siblings mean to them:

Renaldo Schwarp

I have an older brother (3 years older) and sister (about 7 years older). Being the youngest and probably the wildest/loudest among the three I love having the two of them supporting me in whatever I do. Shame, I went through an awkward phase in grade 8, so I didn't have any friends for that entire first six months at high school, so I hovered with my brother during breaks and before school. He was nice enough to not be weird about that (Note that he was in grade 10 and was quite popular). Luckily, I started making friends and I didn't have to bother him post those six months.

Liesl Laurie

I only have one sibling. She’s 11 years younger than me and at first, I couldn’t stand her. I mean I was the only child for 11 years. But now she’s 16 and one of my favourite people in the whole world. Artsy, intelligent, future supermodel!!!

Like most siblings, my older brother and I didn’t get along at all growing and fought over silly things like the TV remote. As we got older, times and relationships change. My brother is now my partner in crime and the first person I turn to. Also, thanks to him I now have a sister in law that is like my best friend!

My brother was supposed to be a sister called Gabrielle and I was incredibly excited. But, on the day, into an all pink room, arrived a baby boy called Dylan. I absolutely hated him, even asking if we could send him back and get my sister! Now, I'm glad we kept him! Most of the time.

I don't have many pictures of us together because he is a bit of a nomad, traveling, and freediving. He's a chef so I think I miss his food the most! He's deep and wise and conversations with him always last well into the sunrise.  He's hard work, has no filter, can be really mean and we fight all the time. But he's my brother, my family and even though we don't say things like this to each other, I do really love him.
