Pregnancy can be a sensitive period for some people.

While some women are fine with announcing their pregnancies, others might want to keep it a secret until a certain time.

In fact, in some cultures, women are not allowed to announce their pregnancies until the first trimester is over.

Some people might choose to only tell their close family and friends.

The reasons for the secrecy around the pregnancy varies. For instance, someone who has previously suffered a miscarriage might fear having a second one. Other people don't want to deal with 101 questions from people asking about when the baby is due etc.

One lady took to Reddit after her friend announced on social media that she is pregnant without getting her consent.

In the post, the expectant mom says the friend went as far as sharing the baby shower card she had sent to her and captioned it, 'Congratulations'.

This rubbed her the wrong way because she says she had only told people very close to her about her pregnancy.

"There’s nothing I can do now, I am livid. I am due in April & have only been telling my close friends & family," wrote the expectant mom.

She added that she does not like sharing about her personal life on social media.

"I’m not a social media gal, I want to be distant from random high school/college people & my friend, whom I grew up with, went to high school and college with (so has all of my own followers) posted my baby shower invite with a congrats."

The pregnant woman added that she feels her friend stole her joy.

"I just need someone to talk me off a ledge, I feel like she stole all of my joy, random people are texting me congrats and I DIDNT TELL THEM. I am so hurt & so PI**ED."
