One of the popular types of bread in South Africa is steamed bread.

This type of bread is specially made during cold weather conditions. It can serve as comfort food.

It is not difficult to make and it can be enjoyed with a variety of things including soup, meat or you can just eat it on its own with a cup of tea or coffee.

What's cool with this recipe is that you can make your steamed bread in the microwave.

Ingredients:

8 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup white sugar
2 cups lukewarm water or enough to cover the dough
5gram active dry yeast
1 teaspoons salt

Method:

- In a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients.
- Pour in lukewarm water.
- Cover the whole bowl with plastic and set aside for an hour, until the dough has risen. Ensure that no air can get through.
- Remove the plastic cover and mix the dough a little bit.
- Rub butter around the microwave container so the dough won't stick.
- Add a small amount of dough into the container (Don't add too much because it will double in size while cooking).
- Microwave for 5- 10 minutes on high temperature (Don’t leave too long in the microwave as it will harden the dough).
- Remove from microwave container and allow to cool.
- Microwave the last batch of dough.

Enjoy!
