How to turn your shower into a home spa
Updated | By Lifestyle Reporter
Here's how you can have a soothing spa experience in your shower.

Why have a regular schmegular shower when you can have a luxurious spa-like experience?
Every home has a bathroom, but you're unlikely to have a bathtub if you live in a small apartment.
Getting into a warm bath at the end of a long day is a soothing experience.
It feels like the weight on your shoulders and the day's stresses are instantly absorbed into the bath water.
However, that doesn't mean your shower can't be as relaxing.
First things first
The first step in your spa experience starts with your shower head. Switching to the gentle flow of a rain showerhead will make showers feel more luxurious.
According to The Bathroom Shower, "with a generous surface, rain shower heads feature a steady, even water flow that emulates rainfall. They do this by using all nozzles for a balanced, soft, and luxurious spray.
It's like turning your regular shower into a glorious rainfall or waterfall!
There are a few cons to consider, such as plumbing, especially if it is mounted on the ceiling. Better Homes & Gardens says that depending on the installation, some people might need to upgrade their plumbing.
"You need plumbing that provides adequate water pressure. Rain showerheads are large—typically 8-12 inches wide, but can reach up to 20 inches—compared to standard showerheads, which are generally 3-6 inches wide. However, rain showers have the same flow rates as traditional showerheads, meaning the same amount of water must travel further to be distributed across a bigger area, which can result in low water pressure."
It adds that your heater could also have problems keeping up, which could cause you to run out of hot water quicker.
Moving along swiftly...
Regardless of the shower head, a spa-like experience is within your reach.
Hang Eucalyptus
Head over to your local florist, buy a bunch of eucalyptus, and hang it from your showerhead. Eucalypts have aromatic leaves that will be activated by steam from the shower, filling the room with a beautiful fragrance.
Soap is nice, but a luxe body oil is better
Amp up the spa experience with a luxurious body oil cleaner or a cream body wash. They come in various fragrances, which will add to your shower experience.
Unlike regular soap, shower oils also make you feel much more moisturised when you step out of the shower.

Speaking of oils...
Essential oils are also great for adding aromas to your shower spa. If you can't get your hands on eucalyptus, add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil to your shower floor. However, be careful with essential oils as they can damage some flooring. They work best diluted or simply invest in an essential oil diffuser.
Candles set the mood
Dim the lights and light a few candles in your bathroom to set the mood. This will give the room a spa-like ambience.
Relaxing playlist
You can't go wrong with relaxing spa music. You can find a playlist on YouTube or your favourite streaming app.
And just like that, you have created a home shower spa.
It's not an everyday thing (unless you want your water and electricity bill to skyrocket), but every once in a while, it feels good to forget about the outside.
Also, consider investing in a high-quality towel and robe made from Egyptian or Turkish cotton to continue the spa experience after you get out of the shower.
