Three cleaning mistakes to avoid
Updated | By Poelano Malema
Keeping your house clean will stop the spread of germs, which will in turn boost your health. Here are three common cleaning mistakes to avoid.
Having a clean house offers one peace of mind. It is a way to ensure that you eliminate germs along with dirt and dust.
It also helps you get better indoor air quality.
However, there are some common cleaning mistakes that many of us make.
Putting your toilet brush directly into the holder after cleaning the toilet
The toilet brush is one of the cleaning tools that carries the most germs. The common mistake that many of us make is to put the brush directly into the holder without cleaning it.
It is advisable that you clean the brush by rinsing it in water or using a disinfectant spray. Alternatively, you can disinfect in a bleach soaking solution or with an all-purpose cleaner.

Remember to air dry the toilet brush.
Cleaning from the ground up
When you are dusting the furniture, walls, windows and ceiling, dust and crumbs fall to the floor. So, it is advisable to clean from the top down so you can clean/vacuum fallen dust and crumbs.
Spraying cleaning product directly onto surface or furniture
The solution can build up on furniture, countertops, or glass if sprayed directly onto them. This results in greasy surfaces, streaky windows, and greasy furniture.
Rather spray the cleaning product onto a microfiber cleaning cloth and wipe.
