How to deal with the Christmas blues
Updated | By Poelano Malema

That is because so many people lose loved ones or have lost loved ones, some lose their jobs, and many relationships come to an end. Some people even use this time to reflect on their failures during the year. We also cannot forget the financial strain that comes with the Festive Season.
The above can leave a lot of people feeling depressed, lonely, and at odds with the world. But don’t let the blues stop you from enjoying this Christmas. Below are things that you can do to deal with the Christmas blues.
Don’t be too hard on yourself
Just because you failed to achieve your goals for the year doesn’t mean you are a failure. Rather focus on your victories for the year and how you can improve in the coming year.
Do good for someone in need
Doing good for others can make us feel good. Seeing the smile on their faces can make our own heart smile. So this Christmas, choose to make someone happy by doing something they will love, and this doesn’t even have to cost you a cent. You can give an abandoned child a hug, share a meal with someone who doesn’t have food, or even just make tea for the granny next door who doesn’t have anyone looking after her.
Do what you love
Instead of lying around thinking about how miserable life is, do something that you love. If you love dancing - put on your favourite music and dance. Just focus your energy on things that will make you happy.
Release all negative energy
Release any negative energy that may be holding you down and giving you the blues. People may have done you wrong - even your own family or colleagues, but learn to move on. Life is too short to hold on to pain.
Seek professional help
If you are still feeling depressed, it may be best to seek professional help. You might have underlying issues that only a professional counsellor might help you deal with.
